Md. Rezaul Karim Hira, a veteran freedom fighter, was born in December 1, 1942 at Charmadhua in the then Jamalpur Sub-Division. He is the third son of late Nurul
Haque and late Jaigunnesa. After completing his matriculation from Nandina M H K Pilot High school in 1958, he studied intermediate in Mymensingh Ananda Mohan College
and Jamalpur Ashek Mahmud College. Later he was detached from his studies for political unrest of that time.
Md. Rezaul Karim Hira was the General Secretary of Sub-Division and District Awami League for five terms from 1970 to 1996. In 1971, he took part in the War of
Liberation and served as a Joint Convener of Jamalpur Mohakuma Sangram Parishad formed by Awami League. He was the Motivational Instructor of the freedom fighters at
Kaliapara Youth Reception Camp of Mahendraganj in India during the Liberation War.
He was the founder General Secretary of Jamalpur Red Cross Society in 1973 and at present he is the life member of it. He also served in Jamalpur Central Co-operative
Bank as its Vice President and President. He was the President of Bangladesh Paribar Parikalpana Samitee of Jamalpur branch for the consecutive 8 years beginning from
1981. He is now the life member of the Samitee. He is the patron and donor of various educational, cultural and religious institutes of his area and held the position of
President of Working Committee, Advisor and Member of such organization. He was rewarded National Co-operative Award for 1990-91.
Md. Rezaul Karim Hira was elected Member of Parliament of the 7th and the 8th National Parliament. He was the Chairman for the Parliament Standing Committee of Public
Assurance and also the member of the Parliament Standing Committee for the Ministry of Planning in the 7th Parliament of Bangladesh. He got the position of member of the
Standing Committee of Public Assurance and also the member for the Standing Committee of Cultural Affairs Ministry in the 8th Parliament of Bangladesh.
He is currently the member of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) National Committee and the member of District Awami League (AL), Jamalpur.
Md. Rezaul Karim Hira has been elected the Member of the Parliament in the 9th Parliament Election from the constituency 142, Jamalpur-5. He took oath as the Minister
of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on 06 January 2009 and assumed the charge of Ministry of Land.
