Life Sketch of Mr. Md. Atharul Islam

Md. Atharul Islam is a senior civil servant of Bangladesh. he was born in 1954 in Khulna. His father's name is Alhaj Md. Mofazzel Hussain. His mother is Late Mozida Khatun. He has a very excellent academic background. He passed the S.S.C Examination in 1970 and H.S.C Examination in 1972 from Azam Khan Commerce College securing the 2nd position in the merit list. He also stood first in B.com (Hon's) & M. Com in Accounting in the year of 1975 and 1976 respectively. He started his career as a lecturer of Accounting at Rajshahi University. Then he joined Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration Cadre) on 30.01.1981. He worked as UNO in three Upazilas very successfully. Then he was made the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Manikgonj. He also worked as ADM in Manikgonj. Then he took the charge of Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur District. he worked in the Ministry of Industries as joint Secretary. He was the director of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation. He was also the Chairman of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation. He brought unique success in the jute sector during his tenure. He was also the Chairman of NIRA. Then he worked in the Ministry of Labor and Employment as Secretary. Now he has been working in the Ministry of Land as Secretary. It is mentionable that he participated in different trainings both in home and abroad. He also attended many national and international seminars. He also chaired the Governing Body of ILO held in 2009 in Geneva. He visited India, Vietnam, Malaysia, UK. Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Thailand, Singapore and other countries. His mission is to dedicate his life towards the mankind and to the state. His vision is to create the opportunity for the well-being of the people of Bangladesh. He served the nation in the different capacities of Bangladesh Civil Service over the years.
