Advocate Mostafizur Rahman was born on 29 November 1953 at Zamgram under Fulbari upaziila in dinajpur. His father's name is late Alhaj Mubarak Hossain and mother's name is late Shaheda Khatun.
Advocate Mostafizur Rahman started his primary education in Rudrani Primary School. He passed SSC examination from Sujapur High School in 1968 and HSC examination from Fulbari College in 1970. He received the graduation degree from the same college in 1973. He secured the Master's degree in Sociology from Rajshahi University in 1977 and under that university he also completed the Bachelor of Law in 1986.
Advocate Mostafizur Rahman entered into the political life when he was in class X. He joined the 6th and 11th Dofa Movement. He also fought bravely in the Liberation War in 1971 under sector 7. He acted as the Chairman of the Convention of Dinajpur District Chattra League in 1973.
He was selected as the Member of Dinajpur District Awami League in 1977 and also selected as the Organizing Secretary of Fulhari Thana Awami League. He was later selected as the Organizing Secretary of District Awami League in 1980 and as the General Secretary of Fulbari Thana Awami League in 1984.
Advocate Mostafizur Rahman acted as District Organizing Secretary from 1980 to 1991. He has been acting as the General Secretary of District Awami League since 1992. He was also selected as the Member of Bagladesh Awami League Central Committee.
Advocate Mostafizur Rahman has been elected the Member of Parliament since 1986 from the constituency No.10 (Dinajpur-5. Fulbari-Parbatipur). He has been elected the Member of Parliament for the 5th time including the current term. He took oath as the State Minister on 6th January 2009 and given the portfolio of the Ministry of Environment and Forest. Currently, Advocate Mostafizur Rahinan has been given the charge as State Minister for the Ministry of Land on 31 July 2009.
He had been the member of the standing committee on Communications Ministry for 15 years, Public Accounts Committee for 10 years and in 2001 he was selected as the chairman of the standing committee on the Relief and Rehabilitation Ministry.
After Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's assassination on 15 August 1975, Advocate Mostafizur Rahman took active part in protesting that barbarous act and and he was sent to prison for this. In 1990, he was sent to prison for the second time for his brave role in the struggle of establishing democracy and rule of law.
Advocate Mostafizur Rahman joined several workshops and conferences in different countries including USA, India, Australia and Malaysia. He is also involved in different sociocultural and educational institutions.
Advocate Mostafizur Rahman got married with Rejina Rahman in 1979. he is the proud father of two daughters named Farhana Rahman and Farzana Rahman.
